Our Vitamin C Brightening Serum Vitamin C Nourishing Cream are formulated with my favorite form of Vitamin C; Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (THD Ascorbate). This type of Vitamin C is known to be stable, non-irritating and suitable for most skin types, even sensitive ones. The fact that it is oil-soluble allows it to provide more targeted benefits. THD Ascorbate, a powerful antioxidant, effectively targets dark spots, uneven skin texture, and dullness while also helping to protect against environmental aggressors.
The Vitamin C Brightening Serum is a highly concentrated formula containing 15% THD Ascorbate. Its lightweight, fast-absorbing, non-sticky texture is perfect for those who have already established a skincare routine and are looking to add a powerful, targeted treatment to their regimen. In addition to THD Ascorbate, this serum also incorporates a meticulously curated blend of other key ingredients that, when combined, work better together. These include Niacinamide, which helps to smooth uneven texture, Superoxide Dismutase, which helps counteract the impact pollution can have on the skin; and Pomegranate Extract, which helps to diminish the appearance of hyperpigmentation caused by sun exposure and aging. As a best practice, when starting to use Vitamin C with higher concentrations, it is best to begin with a gradual approach, using it 2-3 times a week and gradually increasing it to daily use.
The Vitamin C Nourishing Cream combines 5% THD Ascorbate with Hyaluronic Acid. When blended, Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant, and Hyaluronic Acid, a moisture-binding humectant, work together to protect and hydrate the skin, resulting in a brighter and more youthful-looking complexion. Vitamin C can also help boost the effectiveness of Hyaluronic Acid by reducing the free radicals on the skin and allowing the Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate the skin better. To further enrich this daily moisturizer, I’ve included a complex of marine-based ingredients known to be rich in minerals and nutrients to better help offer long-term moisturization. In addition, Radish Root, also known as Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, a natural ferment source, helps protect and balance the skin's natural barrier function. Together, these ingredients create a synergistic effect that helps to promote healthy, hydrated, and balanced skin morning and night.
With regular use, both of our Vitamin C products, especially together, will help show a significant difference in your skin's radiance and overall health.
The choice between the two comes down to personal preference, your current skincare routine, and what your skin needs at any particular moment. If you are looking for a highly concentrated, targeted treatment, try the Vitamin C Brightening Serum. If you are just starting out with Vitamin C or looking for a moisturizing option with Vitamin C and anti-aging benefits, try the Vitamin C Nourishing Cream.
For those who want to incorporate both products into their skincare routine, I recommend applying the Vitamin C Brightening Serum in the morning to help prevent damage from free radicals that can occur throughout the day, followed by your favorite moisturizer and sunscreen. Then at night, while the skin is in its natural repair mode and experiences moisture loss, apply the Vitamin C Brightening Serum first to combat signs of premature aging. Let it absorb for a moment, then apply the Vitamin C Nourishing Cream to help hydrate and reduce trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL).

You’ve probably already heard that the blue light emitted from tech screens can affect your sleep cycles, but did you know that it can also have a negative effect on your skin? It’s true – all that time spent working in front of your laptop can cause your skin to prematurely age. Keep reading to learn more about how blue light affects your skin, and how to incorporate blue light protection skincare into your routine.
So, what is blue light? Blue light is a type of light commonly emitted from tech screens (like your work laptop, your phone, or your tablet). Have you ever watched TV with the lights off? That blue cast that your TV emits is blue light. We usually can’t see blue light in well-lit environments, but it’s there any time you’re using a screen.
Blue light penetrates the skin and creates free radicals which can wreak havoc on collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for keeping our skin smooth and supple. Degraded collagen and elastin are two of the primary reasons for premature skin aging like fine lines and wrinkles.
On the electromagnetic spectrum, blue light is slightly less energetic than UV rays. So while UV rays are more damaging than blue light, blue light can still leave its mark. According to Dr. Kenneth Mark, a cosmetic dermatologist, eight hours of blue light exposure is equal to about 20 minutes of sun exposure. And while that may not sound like much, over the months and years, all those workdays of blue light exposure can add up.
Some of the negative effects of blue light exposure on the skin include:
Blue light protection is just another reason to wear sunscreen every day! A high-quality, broad-spectrum sunscreen will supply ample blue light protection on top of UV protection.
I love Triple Defense Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 as a blue light sunscreen because it’s a 100% mineral sunscreen that blocks UVA, UVB, blue light, and pollution. Plus, it’s non-comedogenic, which means it won’t clog your pores.
Vitamin C is well-loved for its protection against sun damage, but did you know it can also help with blue light? Pair your favorite blue light sunscreen with a vitamin C serum like Vitamin C Treatment Complex to amp up your blue light protection skincare routine. Vitamin C Treatment Complex also helps to fade the appearance of hyperpigmentation, which is good news for anyone who’s already experiencing blue light-induced discoloration.
Beyond mineral sunscreen and vitamin C, certain botanical ingredients may also help to protect against blue light damage. One I’m particularly excited about is brown algae, which is why we’ve included it in our Intense Hydrating Mask. This deeply hydrating treatment is especially effective for anyone with dry skin.
Do you make blue light protection a part of your skincare routine?
]]>Are you familiar with this scenario? Your complexion is dewy and radiant all summer and autumn long. Then, as soon as winter hits, your skin is dry, flaky, and dull. You’re not imagining it: winter is tough on the skin and can leave even the oiliest skin types with a parched, papery complexion. Luckily, there are some simple tweaks you can make to your skincare line-up to replenish your skin with much-needed hydration.
I spoke with dermatologist Dr. Hadley King on how to update your skincare for winter. Keep reading to learn how to design your winter skincare routine!
So, why is winter so tough on the skin? It all has to do with moisture. Low temperatures outside mean that the air has very little moisture. This causes moisture in the skin to escape, leading to parched skin. Dry indoor air from heaters compounds this effect.
Dry skin is also prone to flaking. And since dehydrated skin lacks moisture that gives moisturized complexions a supple glow, it can also appear dull with extra fine lines and wrinkles.
According to Dr. King, depending on your skin type, it may be wise to decrease the frequency of exfoliation and opt for a more moisturizing exfoliator. “Look for exfoliators that support the skin barrier while they exfoliate,” Dr. King told us. I love Micro-Mineral Resurfacing Scrub, which is formulated with licorice to condition the skin as well as soothing rosehip oil.
If you’re not already using a toner, winter is a great time to start. A hydrating toner like Micro-Mineral Soothing Toner replenishes skin with hydration and nutrients after cleansing and exfoliating.
It probably goes without saying, but adding in more moisture will be key for your winter skincare routine. According to Dr. King, the ideal winter moisturizer contains three components: humectants, emollients, and occlusives.
But don’t worry! I’ve already put together Extreme Recovery Cream with all of these components in mind. “The Extreme Recovery Cream is great for dry winter skin because it is formulated with the perfect combination of humectants (e.g. glycerin and hyaluronic acid), emollients (e.g. triglycerides and stearic acid), and occlusives (e.g. avocado oil and shea butter) to hydrate, support the skin barrier and lock in moisture,“ says Dr. King.
Boost the hydrating effects of Extreme Recovery Cream by pairing it with a rich face oil like Face Oil N°9. Face Oil N°9 is formulated with a blend of botanical oils that have emollient and lightly occlusive properties. For maximum hydration, apply Face Oil N°9 to damp skin and follow with Extreme Recovery Cream.
Our last skincare for winter recommendation is to add a hydrating mask to your routine. My pick? Intense Hydrating Mask, which delivers a concentrated burst of hydration to tight, dry, rough, or dehydrated skin. This high-tech hydrator is formulated with BMX Complex™ which deeply hydrates the skin as well as Matrixyl® synthe'6® which reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Have you heard of hyaluronic acid? This skincare ingredient seems to be everywhere these days, and for good reason. Keep reading to learn about the benefits of hyaluronic acid and why you should include hyaluronic acid products in your skincare routine.
So, what exactly is hyaluronic acid? Hyaluronic acid is a type of sugar molecule found naturally in the skin. Hyaluronic acid binds water to collagen (a protein that helps keep your skin supple and smooth) and traps that water in the skin so that it appears plump and hydrated. And I’m not talking a little bit of water here. Hyaluronic acid holds 1000 times its weight in water. That’s impressive for such a small molecule!
Though our skin produces hyaluronic acid naturally, as we age, production declines. This is one of the many factors that leads to signs of aging like fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging.
Hyaluronic acid also works to strengthen the skin’s natural protective barrier. By increasing the skin’s resiliency, hyaluronic acid also helps to protect against moisture loss and environmental aggressors.
All skin types can benefit from using hyaluronic acid products, but those with dry skin or signs of aging will see the biggest benefit. Why? Because hyaluronic acid helps to imbue the skin with lost moisture, which soothes dryness and smooths out the appearance of fine lines.
And though “acid” is in the name, don’t worry. Hyaluronic acid is non-irritating and helps to hydrate even the most sensitive skin. In fact, thanks to its barrier-strengthening properties, hyaluronic may even reduce sensitivity.
So how can you add hyaluronic acid to your skincare lineup? These are my picks for the best hyaluronic acid products.
Fight the six signs of aging (texture, dehydration, elasticity, fine lines, radiance, and tone) with this highly concentrated serum. The Age Renewal Super Serum formula includes more than 20 potent ingredients, including peptides, collagen boosters, amino acids, and (of course) hyaluronic acid.
Meet your new go-to for diminishing signs of aging around the eyes. The Complete Eye Cream formula of clinically proven peptides plus hydration-boosting botanicals and hyaluronic acid help to fade under-eye circles, soothe puffiness, and smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
This hyaluronic acid moisturizer delivers intensive care for delicate and dehydrated skin. Extreme Recovery Cream works to restore the skin’s protective hydro-lipid barrier for smoother, more resilient skin. And it’s a hit with our fans! As reviewer Abby writes, “I started using this about a year ago and will be the only moisturizer I need for the rest of my life! It’s that good.”
Dry skin has met its match! This hyaluronic acid moisturizer provides a highly concentrated boost of hydration to relieve tight, dry, rough, or dehydrated skin. The Intense Hydrating Mask formula, imbued with hyaluronic acid plus coral grass and micro-algae, helps to improve the skin’s elasticity. A tri-peptide complex also reduces the appearance of fine lines.

Do you have travel on your radar? I love a chance to explore, but not at the expense of my skincare and hair care routine. Unfortunately, TSA’s rules often make it difficult to bring our tried-and-true favorites on our adventures. The solution? Travel size products! This year, skip the post-flight breakouts and mid-vacation flyaways with these skin care sets and travel hair products that are TSA-approved. Plus, we’ll share our favorite tips for healthy skin while traveling.
Pssst! Not going anywhere? Keep reading, because these trial-size products are the perfect way to sample Colleen Rothschild Beauty!
Between the dry cabin air, disrupted sleep habits, and travel-induced stress, going on vacation is often a recipe for breakouts or a dull-looking complexion. Follow these tips to keep your skin looking healthy and glowing while you’re on the go.
If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times, but wearing SPF is the most important thing you can do for your skin. And yes, you should even wear it while on the plane! UV radiation levels are higher above the clouds, so shield your skin with proper sun protection like my Triple Defense Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 40.
The best way to maintain your glow is to invest in travel-size versions of the products you already know and love. But if you’re not sold on your current skincare routine, a new beauty set allows an opportunity to discover new favorites. The Exploration Collection includes my must-have skin goodies in TSA-approved sizes, while the Discovery Collection features my best-selling products. Both come in chic carrying cases which make packing a cinch.
Staying hydrated inside will help to keep your skin hydrated as well. Start early and up your water intake a few days before your flight, then make sure to drink plenty of water while on your travels. Carry a reusable water bottle so you can fill it up at airport water fountains.
Another way to keep your skin supple and hydrated is to apply a thick moisturizer before departing for your travels. A rich moisturizer like Intense Hydrating Mask creates a barrier on your skin to keep moisture in and germs out.
You probably don’t need me to tell you, but airplanes and other forms of transportation are a magnet for germs. To prevent breakouts and illness, keep your hands clean by washing them frequently and using antibacterial gel. And avoid touching your face!
Now that we’ve covered healthy skin while traveling, what about hair? For many of us, the ultra-dry conditions of the airplane cabin plus high humidity at our vacation destination lead to frizz and flyaways (not the look you want in your vacation photos).
To keep your ‘do smooth and shiny, try a set of travel hair products like the Quench & Shine Trial & Travel Essentials. This five-piece beauty travel set features my popular Quench & Shine collection, including a restorative shampoo and hair mask, shine serum, and protecting style cream (a must for long days spent in the sun). Plus, I added a microfiber wet hair scrunchie to tame hair without breakage.
Do you have any tips for maintaining healthy skin and hair while traveling that I didn’t cover here? Let me know in the comment section below!

When it comes to treating and preventing the signs of aging, glycolic acid and retinol are two of the most effective ingredients on the market. But what exactly do these powerhouse ingredients do? Keep reading to learn more about glycolic acid and retinol. Plus, I’ll tell you the right way to incorporate them in your skincare routine (hint: they shouldn’t be applied together!).
Glycolic acid is a type of alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from sugar cane. Glycolic acid is a chemical exfoliator that gently dissolves the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing them to slough off the skin’s surface. The result? Smoother, more glowing skin. Glycolic acid can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, fade hyperpigmentation, and eliminate breakouts.
I love glycolic acid because it provides all the benefits of a physical exfoliator (like a scrub) without stripping away moisture or causing microtears on the skin’s surface. And by removing dead skin cells, glycolic acid allows better penetration of other skincare ingredients. That means that your other skincare products will actually be more effective if you incorporate glycolic acid into your skincare routine.
Most skin types can benefit from using some sort of alpha-hydroxy acid product, like our Glycolic Acid Peel Pads with Blue Agave. This spa-strength treatment dissolves skin-clogging dirt, debris, and excess sebum for a fresh, even complexion.
Like glycolic acid, retinol is a powerful anti-aging ingredient. So what’s the difference between glycolic acid and retinol? Retinol is a derivative of vitamin A that encourages skin cell turnover and boosts collagen production. Like glycolic acid, retinol can improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and acne.
However, retinol does not help to remove dead, dull skin. When using retinol, it’s also important to exfoliate regularly to reap the maximum results (more on that later).
Here’s where things get tricky. While glycolic acid and retinol are effective actives for any anti-aging skincare routine, you should never use them at the same time. Trust us, using both together is a recipe for irritation.
One option is to use either glycolic acid or retinol in your skincare routine. Glycolic acid is the more gentle ingredient. So if you’ve never used any actives in your skincare routine or you’re in your 20s, start with glycolic acid. If you are in your 30s or older, you can opt for retinol instead.
The other option is to alternate using the ingredients. For example, use Glycolic Acid Peel Pads with Blue Agave two to three evenings per week, then use Retinol Supreme Night Oil on the other nights. This method has some serious benefits. Since retinol increases skin cell turnover, you’ll actually need to step up your exfoliation game to buff away the additional dead skin. Glycolic acid can provide the perfect solution, provided that you don’t use the ingredients at the same time.
To avoid irritation, use either glycolic acid or retinol for several weeks. After your skin has adjusted, slowly add the second ingredient to your routine.
Both glycolic acid and retinol increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun. So make sure you use a high-quality sunscreen Triple Defense Sunscreen Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 every day while using these products. Our Triple Defense Sunscreen provides potent broad-spectrum protection but feels positively weightless on the skin.
Have you tried glycolic acid or retinol? What were your results? Let me know in the comment section!

The earlier we begin a BODYcare routine, the healthier our skin appears. Remember, our bodies need the same TLC that we give our faces, and now that spring has officially arrived, it’s the perfect time to focus on our skin below the chin!
I’m excited about the recent launch of our new Honey Vanilla Bath & Body Collection:
Our new Bath & Body Collection is a skin-renewing trifecta wrapped in a warm, intoxicating aroma of Honey Vanilla. Our entire collection is blended with five nourishing exotic oils: Kukui Nut, Borage, Jojoba, Coconut, and Buriti. The collection revitalizes as it exfoliates, cleanses, and moisturizes.
Step 1: EXFOLIATE - HONEY VANILLA BODY SCRUB
Glowing skin begins with a good exfoliation. Finely milled Bamboo, Pomegranate, and Cranberry are blended with Pink Himalayan Salt crystals and Brazilian Brown Sugar. This skin-clarifying formula is suspended in five luxurious oils to supercharge hydration without leaving behind a greasy residue.
Gentle enough for everyday use in the shower or tub, our antioxidant-rich Body Scrub breaks down bonds between skin cells, sloughs away impurities and builds collagen as you exfoliate. It protects and revitalizes skin cells, restoring a supple texture and glowing tone to the skin’s surface.
How to use:
Begin your Bath & Body Care Routine by scooping a dollop of the Scrub into your palm. Massage away dull, rough skin - including feet, knees and elbows. As you rinse, you’ll notice your skin is silky soft, velvety smooth and ready to receive your moisturizers.
Pro tip: Exfoliating with our Honey Vanilla Body Scrub goes beyond nourishing and revitalizing your skin. Use on legs before shaving to help uncover ingrown hairs, helping for a smoother, closer shave.
STEP 2: CLEANSE - HONEY VANILLA CREAMY BODY WASH
The highlight of our emollient Creamy Body Wash is when it comes in contact with water - the creamy oil transforms into a gentle, dual cleanser and moisturizer that features a luxurious blend of Shea Butter, Milk Thistle and five exotic oils.
How To Use:
After rinsing away the Body Scrub, massage the Body Wash directly into your skin and rinse thoroughly.
STEP 3: MOISTURIZE - HONEY VANILLA BODY BUTTER
Our new Body Butter is a blend of Brazilian Murumuru Butter and Bacuri Butter whipped with five exotic oils. The rich, buttery texture is emollient and soaks into skin, locking in moisture.
How to use:
After showering with the Honey Vanilla Body Scrub and Body Wash, massage the Body Butter into slightly damp skin. Pay special attention to rough patches on feet, knees, and elbows.
If you have tried the new Honey Vanilla Bath & Body Collection, we would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

]]>Stop and think of eight precious women in your life. Your mom, sisters, cousins, best friends - it shouldn't be too difficult to imagine.
Statistics show that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
We all know that the month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the movement has made incredible strides at promoting awareness of the problem. Knowledge of early detection and scientific research have made it so that the 5-year survival rate of women diagnosed is almost 90%.
That rate is amazing - and it reiterates the importance of of self-exams, regular mammograms, and early diagnosis.
So, why "Breast" Friend?
About seven years ago while performing a self-breast exam, I found something that felt a little out of place.
I immediately called my doctor to schedule a mammogram. The irony is what I felt were just normal lumps and bumps. But, the mammogram found two more suspicious clusters in my breast. I had a lumpectomy, and the clusters were benign.
I quickly realized how important that at-home self exam was. And even though awareness is at an all-time high - how many of us are regularly performing our self-exams every month?
I thought that I could help create a skincare product the not only makes the self-exam simple and easy but will also encourage you to #KnowThyBoobs!
What does it do?
The combination of luxurious butters and oils helps fingers slip-and-slide over the breast during exams. The extra glide helps with the detection of lumps and bumps under the skin.
Plus, as a bonus, it smells REALLY nice. Like a fresh, feminine, floral. I think you're going to love it so much, you may just want to rub it everywhere!
All of the directions on the packaging were hand-drawn by me. My hope is that the cute little jar stands out on your vanity or countertop and reminds you to dive in and perform those self-checks every month! (But don't forget to regularly schedule mammograms too!)
If you're not familiar with self-exams, here's a look at how to perform an at-home self-breast exam.
What's in it?
BUTTERS
> Murumuru Butter
> Shea Butter
> Bacuri Butter
OILS
> Jojoba Seed Oil
> Borage Seed Oil
> Kukui Nut Oil
> Sweet Almond Oil
> Coconut Oil
EXTRACTS

It makes for a great, quirky gift for your mom, best girlfriend, or even your favorite nurse!
Early detection is crucial. Routine mammograms and monthly self-examination are checklist items you can’t afford to put off. Go ahead and get to #KnowThyBoob!

Of course, we know factors such as diet, hormones, poor sleeping habits, and not drinking enough water can cause unbalanced skin, but today I’d like to shed some light on how oil-based skincare can be beneficial for skin concerns like oiliness, clogged or enlarged pores, and flakiness...
]]>We’ve all heard the rumor that skincare products and makeup formulated with oil should be avoided if you have acne-prone skin. With this long-standing philosophy, the new trend of oil-based skin care products for oily and acne-prone skin seems counterintuitive. Right? So why are oils becoming increasingly popular as a must-have in skin care - especially for skin vulnerable to breakouts?
Of course, we know factors such as diet, hormones, poor sleeping habits, and not drinking enough water can cause unbalanced skin, but today I’d like to shed some light on how oil-based skincare can be beneficial for skin concerns like oiliness, clogged or enlarged pores, and flakiness.
You may be surprised to discover dehydrated skin is one of the main culprits of oily skin! Cleansers and treatments with harsh ingredients - like sulfates and parabens are formulated to strip the skin of all traces of oil to prevent breakouts.
Stripping the skin damages its thin protective barrier - the acid mantle. The acid mantle is made up of sebum, a natural lubricant produced in the skin’s oil glands. Sebum’s function is to hold hydration and retain a balanced moisture level. Its other important job is to keep out environmental pollutants.
When the skin is constantly stripped, the acid mantle is weakened, allowing moisture to escape and toxins and environmental pollutants to sneak in. Skin loses water faster than it’s able to absorb. So a weakened protective barrier leads to dehydration, forcing the skin’s oil glands to overproduce sebum.
Normal sebum production flushes the pores of bacteria, dirt, and dead skin cells. Too much sebum binds with these toxins and congests the pores, causing the oily residue sitting on your skin’s surface, which can lead to breakouts and irritation.
Whether your skin is oily and acne-prone or you want to repair skin concerns - like noticeable dullness and dryness, enlarged pores, or fine lines and wrinkles - balancing your skin’s pH is the key to restoring its health.
The formula to maintain skin’s healthy pH balance is hydration + moisturizer = balanced skin. You may be thinking, “Isn’t hydrating and moisturizing the same thing?” The short answer is no. Hydrating helps replenish and protect the skin’s barrier - the acid mantle. Moisturizers can add an extra layer of hydration, but they’re formulated to lock in hydration.
Now, let’s talk about how oil fits into the skincare equation. The latest research continues to unearth the nourishing and repairing properties of plant-based oils for all skin types - including acne-prone skin.
Skin care products with oil-derived ingredients are formulated to replenish skin’s lost hydration. Plant-based oils gently balance excess oil, protect against pollutants, and remove dead skin cells - leaving skin hydrated for a supple, dewy glow. Some popular plant-based oils include:
Moringa Oil
Sweet Almond Oil
Grapeseed Oil
Argan Oil
Olive Oil
Jojoba Oil
If you’re considering switching out your current skin care for oil-based products, your skin may be reactive at first. It can take up to 2-3 weeks to make the transition. I suggest a subtle transition.
Begin introducing your new skin care at night when skin repairs itself from the day’s environmental damage. You may also want to consider alternating your new skin care with your current formulas every other night if your skin is particularly temperamental. As your skin adjusts, you can gradually increase applying your new oil-base products.
Try starting with a mild cleanser like the Radiant Cleansing Balm, formulated with Black Seed Oil, Moringa Oil and hydrating Lipexel ™. It gently removes all traces of makeup and dirt leaving skin soft, glowing, and well balanced.
While writing this, we also released the very first toner in the CR lineup! The Matcha Tea Treatment Toner combines a ton of detoxing, protective ingredients. It can help remove excess oil without stripping the skin of its natural "good" bacteria. Plus, Green Tea is a great antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredient, which means it can help soothe and balance acne and even rosacea.
Once your skin transitions and is receptive to your new cleanser, try adding a retinol with soothing skin oils. I love how our Retinol Supreme Night Oil gently fights skin irritants associated with acne - like environmental toxins, free radicals, dehydration, and enlarged pores. Nine plant-based oils replenish dehydrated skin and correct skin irritation without flakiness.
Maybe your skin is reactive to retinol or you use another retinol-based product. In this case, I would suggest Face Oil No 9. It is liquid gold for balancing oily skin! It combines nine precious oils - including Moringa Oil and Black Seed Oil - and vitamins to balance the skin and provide intense hydration. Try using this oil as your nighttime moisturizer to rehydration and balance your skin.
We know debris, dead skin cells, and excess oil can trigger acne breakouts. Using the Clarifying Detox Mask 2-3 times a week can help give your skin an extra deep clean. It’s also a great spot treatment to pull dirt and debris from skin and help promote overall balance.
Effective oil-based skin care may be a concept you have to see to believe. Start small and slowly work some of these other suggestions into your routine... You just may love the results!

With the summer season winding down, maybe you’re noticing some effects of the extra time you’ve spent outdoors. Freckles are no longer a cute summertime accessories! And if you have sensitive skin, you could be more susceptible to longtime spots or scarring...
]]>As our skin ages, signs of environmental damage can become more and more visible on the face and neck. The most notable culprits are the harmful UV rays, which can cause spots and discoloration. Other offenders are pollution, extreme weather conditions, and blemishes that leave behind scars.
With the summer season winding down, maybe you’re noticing some effects of the extra time you’ve spent outdoors. Freckles are no longer a cute summertime accessories! And if you have sensitive skin, you could be more susceptible to longtime spots or scarring.
We all want to put our best face forward. Youthful, radiant, and glowing skin is one of our most beloved accessories. Nurturing skin with effective ingredients is the key to keeping visible signs of aging in their place. As the saying goes...looking good is feeling good!
Today, I’d like to introduce you to some of my favorite products specially formulated to get your skin back to its healthy, supple appearance.
Maintaining skin’s youthful appearance as we age can be quick and simple with active serums that interrupt and even correct dark spots, scarring, and signs of aging.
Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum is a miracle-working exfoliant for sloughing off dull, dead skin cells. Mandelic acid is a superior alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that promote cell turnover. (You may be familiar with its "sister" AHAs like Glycolic acid or Lactic acid. However, Mandelic acid is more gentle than these two. Many women of color find that too much Glycolic acid causes discoloration, which you won't find with Mandelic acid.)
This serum reduces the effects of photo-aging, fine lines, and dark spots, and it unclogs pores to reduce blemishes. I love how it reveals the radiance in my skin tone practically over night! After my nightly cleansing with the Balm, I massage about one pump of the serum evenly over my face, neck, and décolleté using my fingertips.
If your skin tone and texture feel okay, but you're still looking to fight other signs of aging like loss of elasticity and wrinkles - go straight for the Retinol Treatment Complex.
Retinol gives cell turnover a power punch, but added ingredients like Bisabolol and Boswellia Serrata help soothe irritation or inflammation. This is not the typical retinol that causes snake-like flaking and peeling! The Retinol Treatment Complex targets 5 visible signs of aging with an effective yet gentle advanced treatment. Massaging a thin layer evenly over your face and neck at night can minimize the appearance of wrinkles, clear your pores, and unveil a brighter, more luminous complexion!
Pro Tip - AHAs in the Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum and retinol on the Retinol Treatment Complex can make your skin more vulnerable to UV rays. Be sure to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen after moisturizing in the morning.
To learn more about chemical exfoliation from AHAs and retinol - check out this blog on everything you need to know about exfoliation.
If your skin is showing signs of environmental stress or you’re vulnerable to break-outs that have left some scaring, you may need to up your vitamin C game.
The Vitamin C Treatment Complex is apotent, non-irritating treatment that clarifies skin. It reveals its natural radiance by reducing the appearance of hyper-pigmentation, redness, and dark spots. Adding this active serum to your morning routine provides another layer of restorative emollients to encourage clear, even-toned skin while preventing further damage from pollution and other environmental factors.
With any serum or treatment, it's important to "lock in" those active ingredients by applying a moisturizer afterwards. Moisturizers replenish hydration and minimize dryness and peeling by adding a layer of protection to your skin’s barrier. It’s an essential part of skincare for healthy, dewy skin.
My go-to moisturizers are a perfect pairing of superior hydration. Extreme Recovery Cream and Face Oil No.9 pull double-duty to replenish skin’s moisture barrier. At bedtime, I apply a small dollop of Extreme Recovery Cream right on top of my serum, and then I follow it by massaging in 3 or 4 drops of Face Oil No.9 when my skin needs extra hydration. In the morning, my skin looks vibrant and feels wonderfully supple.
Skin lives and breathes as we do. Just as we feed our bodies, we can feed our skin to correct visible signs of damage for clearer and more even toned skin.
Share your skin success stories below. I’d also be happy to answer any questions!

Summer is the season for fun in the sun - lounging by the pool, a day at the beach, or biking in the park. My husband Stan and I just returned from the most amazing two weeks in Greece. We spent most of the trip outdoors, exploring the winding roads of Santorini and relaxing by a pool in Athens. I was quickly reminded of the importance of my daily sunscreen!
(Would you guys be interested in a recap of my trip to Greece? Let me know in the comments below!)
I do my best to avoid sun exposure when I can, but staying in the shade isn't always practical. And whether you're traveling for summer vacations or just spending time with family, more time outside means more sun exposure.
Properly applying a sunscreen with effective ingredients is a MUST to protect your skin from the damaging ultraviolet rays. Tanned skin may look great in your 20s, but trust me, if you wan't to preserve your skin's youthful tone and texture, protection from the sun is essential.
So today, I thought I would talk about some important things to look for in a sunscreen - and how to properly protect you and your family in the hot summer sun.
What’s in an SPF?
SPF - or "sun protection factor" - is the level of protective filters against harmful UVA and UVB rays.
UVA rays tan your skin. They penetrate deep into the skin which can cause premature wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of photo-aging. These UVA rays have been linked to skin cancer, while UVB rays cause redness and sunburn on the skin’s surface.
Applying an SPF sunscreen of 15 or higher is recommend to defend against skin damage. However, an SPF of 25+ is ideal for most skin and provides 97% protection against the damaging rays of the sun.
What is "Broad Spectrum"?
Broad spectrum sunscreen is formulated to protect you from UVA and UVB rays. So be sure to look for it on the label to know you’re getting optimal protection for your skin.
Sunscreen isn’t just for the beach! Even if you're spending lots of time in your car or near a window, you’re skin is vulnerable to the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays. Applying a broad spectrum sunscreen should be a part of your daily skin care routine in every season, even when it’s overcast or rainy. It’s a simple step to help your skin age gracefully, preventing the signs of photo-aging.
Which active ingredients should I look for?
I know that scanning ingredient lists can be a bit of a pain, but checking out the active ingredient section on the back of your sunscreen can help narrow down the myriad of choices available to you.
Consider using a sunscreen formulated with ZINC OXIDE or TITANIUM DIOXIDE. Both are active or “physical” minerals that form a barrier over the skin that absorb, reflect, and scatter UV rays. When UV rays come in contact with your skin, they bounce off this barrier, blocking penetration into the skin.
Both Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide are safe for sun exposure, and they typically do not cause breakouts, which makes both of these minerals better for sensitive or reactive skin. Zinc Oxide especially protects sensitive skin against UV rays without causing irritation. Plus, its antimicrobial and naturally soothing properties are a bonus!
How should I apply sunscreen?
To receive the full protection from your sunscreen, apply 1 ounce (about 2 tablespoons) to your skin 15 to 30 minutes before sun exposure. Be sure to cover those easy-to-miss areas like your ears, back of your legs, and your neck. It’s highly recommended that you apply sunscreen every 2 hours, even if your sunscreen offers longer protection. It’s always best to apply more often if you sweat or you’re in water.
No sunscreen blocks all UV rays, but by choosing a broad spectrum sunscreen and applying frequently, you can be assured your skin is well-protected.
And don't forget, it's best to replace your sunscreen every 12 months. That old tube from a few summers ago may not be as effective as it once was. So don't risk it!
Any last minute sun shielding tips?
Sunscreen alone may not always be enough to guard against UV rays. If you plan to spend an extended amount of time in direct sunlight, consider doing these things for the best chance of protecting your skin.
If you’re considering adding an SPF to your skin care regimen (and you should), the Daily Defense SPF 25 offers broad spectrum protection with the important Zinc Oxide mineral to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Its ultra-lightweight, oil-free, and non-comedogenic properties make it perfect to wear alone or under your makeup. Antimicrobial and naturally soothing properties help keep premature skin-aging at bay. And a mineral-based blend of vitamin E and peptide complex promotes skin’s radiance and even tone while diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
It’s never too early to start protecting your skin. No sunscreen is 100% protective, but NOT applying a broad spectrum SPF sunscreen is risky business. A sunscreen with effective ingredients goes a long way in protecting your skin from overexposure to the sun, and preserves the radiant tone and texture of your skin’s surface.

If you're getting less than the recommended 8 hours every night, signs of sleep depravation may start manifesting as dark under eye circle, dull complexion, or inflammation in your skin...
]]>We all know how essential a good night's sleep is for a good day - and a good attitude! A stressful workday, a negative situation, or smartphone overload can cause sleep to be elusive.
If you're getting less than the recommended 8 hours every night, signs of sleep depravation may start manifesting as dark under eye circle, dull complexion, or inflammation in your skin.
Today, I've compiled the steps that I take to prep myself for a blissful night of rest. Hopefully some of these tips will work for you too!
Step 1: Beauty Routine for Beauty Sleep
No surprise here! I start my bedtime ritual with a relaxing skincare routine, of course. Clean, refreshed, and hydrated skin is a great way to begin winding down.
Start your evening routine by removing makeup and debris in one step with the Radiant Cleansing Balm. It leaves skin feeling soft and balanced without tightness or dryness.
A few times per week, I like apply a thick layer of the Clarifying Detox Mask to deep clean my skin and get rid of bacteria. While allowing it to work for 10-15 minutes, I may treat myself to a bubble bath or get a head start on my evening reading. (See Step #3!) After rinsing, my skin usually feels brighter and squeaky clean.
Lastly, we need to hydrate! Locking in hydration at night is crucial for a youthful appearance. Try taking a small dollop of Extreme Recovery Cream combined with one pump of the Retinol Supreme Night Oil. This cocktail dream team boosts moisture levels while retinol works at regenerating fresh, younger looking skin.
Remember, if you're using retinol at night, don't forget the SPF in the morning! Especially during these warm summer months when we're spending more time in the sun.
Step 2: Massage In Head-to-Toe Hydration
Is there anything better than a relaxing massage? I instantly feel sleepy just thinking about it.
Give yourself a little hand and foot massage with the Nourishing Body Lotion to relieve tired muscles. You can even slip on a pair of fuzzy socks to help the moisture absorb overnight, so you wake up with baby soft feet - a must have during sandals season.
Pay special attention to rough areas like knees and elbows too. The lotion's silk-like texture and powder fresh scent are sure to soothe you right to sleep.
Step 3: Curl Up With a Good Book
I'm sure you've heard this tip before, but I can tell you that it really does work! At least 20 minutes before bed, I try to unplug from my phone, laptop, all the digital distractions and take time to read.
Currently, I'm in the middle of The Couple Next Door. I'll be honest, it has so many twists and turns, sometimes it's hard to put down late at night! I love true crime and books with lots of mystery and suspense. Next on my list is The Woman in Cabin 10. I keep hearing fabulous things about it.
(PS - I'd love to hear your summer reading list in the comments below!)
I also love sipping on camomile tea with a little bit of honey. Something about the warmth of the tea and the relaxing scent puts me right to sleep!
Step 4: Meditate on the Day
If you're not a literary gal, you may like to just sit quietly and reflect for 5-10 minutes. Meditation is proven to reduce stress and anxiety - two of the things probably keeping you up at night.
There are tons of great apps and tools that can help with meditation and relaxation. I've tried the Calm app, which has breathing exercises and even bedtime stories to help you unwind while you reflect.
I've heard that there really is no wrong way to meditate. You can clear your mind, or think of things you are thankful for, or envision your goals and ambitions. It's a time to manifest peace and joyfulness in your own life.
Step 5: When All Else Fails, Sleep Like a Baby
If you’re a light sleeper, you may be easily distracted by even the faintest sounds. White noise just may be your solution.
Yep, the same white noise machine you used to put your kids to sleep could help lull you to sleep too.
You may also like the soft bubbling of an essential oil diffuser. Lavender oil is therapeutic and has often been used as a solution for insomnia. Not to mention, the fragrance is just lovely.
And just like that, you'll be counting sheep in no time! What do you do to prepare yourself for a restful slumber? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

As our skin matures, its needs change at different stages of life. Adding skin enhancing ingredients to your regimen is important to maintain a youthful, radiant appearance. It's not about hiding our age or reversing the clock - it's about aging gracefully...
]]>As you get older, you’ve probably noticed your interests changing. In your 20s, an outdoor music festival with your friends is exciting. By your 40s, a quiet evening in may seem more appealing!
As our skin matures, its needs change at different stages of life. Adding skin enhancing ingredients to your regimen is important to maintain a youthful, radiant appearance. It's not about hiding our age or reversing the clock - it's about aging gracefully.
So today, I’d like to share with you some tips for great skin care at any age - from 20 to 50 and beyond!
Adding Sunscreen in Your 20s
In you teens and 20s, skin regenerates super fast, and elasticity is at its best. But it’s not too early to begin treating skin to help maintain its radiant, supple glow.
At any age, it’s important to protect your skin from the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays to prevent photo-aging and wrinkles. Get in the habit of applying sunscreen NOW! Trust me, it is much easier to prevent sun spots and wrinkles than it is to get rid of them later in life.
One of the best ways to protect youthful skin is with Vitamin C, widely known for detoxifying and protecting skin’s surface from pollution and other environmental stressors.
So many people continue to struggle with those "teenage breakouts" well into their 20s. If uninvited blemishes are popping up, treat your skin with salicylic acid, which is a beta hydroxy acid known for its efficacy on acne-prone skin. It works hard on clogged pores, and its calming properties help prevent future breakouts.
For extra acne-fighting benefits, try a detoxifying mask to remove trapped dirt and debris from your pores for a more balanced complexion. Apply a layer to your face and neck 2-3 times a week. It also works great as a spot treatment!
Adding AHA in Your 30s
As you enter into your 30s, skin begins to lose collagen, making it vulnerable to premature wrinkles and fine lines. Skincare products formulated with AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) help repair collagen deficient skin.
Adding a gentle AHA to your daily routine promotes cell turnover, which addresses issues like photo-aging, fine lines, blemishes, and dark spots. It can also help improve the overall texture and tone of skin. Overtime you may start to notice a brighter and more radiant complexion.
Now is also the time to start thinking about the delicate area around the eyes - it's usually the first spot you can see signs of aging.
Find an eye cream that provides a layer of peptides for your delicate eye contour. Again, it's all about prevention! Wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles, and puffiness are a dead giveaway for tired eyes.
Adding Retinol in Your 40s
By 40, interrupting skin’s aging process is important - and retinol is a wonderful agent for halting skin damage and retaining youthfulness.
Our unique retinol oil contains the maximum amount of retinol allowed in "over the counter" products. No skimping here! Plus, the addition of 9 plant-based oils helps restore skin’s moisture to prevent irritation and flaking that is common with many retinol products.
It may also be time to up your eye game. An eye serum with the anti-aging benefits of retinol can help reverse the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and puffiness. A supremely rich blend of retinol and vitamin C give a youthful boost to your delicate eye contour.
If you're interested in learning even more about the Retinol Supreme Night Oil, check out this blog. Or, if you want to know more about which retinol product is right for you, this one is a great read.
Adding Peptides in Your 50s and Beyond
At this stage of life, we're all looking for the miracle ingredient to keep our age a secret! Even if you have a skincare routine that has proven to work well throughout the years, aging and hormonal changes may cause a change in texture, dryness, and dullness.
Adding a peptide infused serum to your routine is one of the best ways to help turn around signs of aging skin. Peptides are the superhero of collagen production, which helps reduce environmental stress and improves skin’s surface. In this particular serum, peptides combined with effective vitamins and plant extracts is a power-punch for aging skin.
Really, all of my formulas are designed to work at any age - whether you're 18 or 85! It's all about learning what your skin needs and preventing further damage.
It’s never too late - or too early - to find a skincare routine that fits your lifestyle.

If you're reading this, you're probably a skincare lover like myself. We love to nurture our skin with the latest and greatest enriching products in the search for perfect skin.
However, what we put inside our bodies can help support the beneficial ingredients we apply to our skin. Implementing certain foods and eliminating others for a more balanced, nutritional diet is a natural choice we can make to improve our skin concerns.
Today, I’d like to share some simple nutrient-rich foods that can help improve troubled skin and aid in the appearance of a healthier-looking complexion.
NATURAL BLEMISH-FIGHTERS
Dairy products and high-glycemic foods have been scientifically linked to break-out prone skin. Replacing milk and highly processed foods with natural whole foods (like the ones listed below) may help reduce inflammation and over production of blemish-causing oils.
GREEN TEA
Packed with antioxidants, this “super-drink” is great for defending your skin against environmental stressors.
AVOCADO
This versatile, yummy fruit is a rich source of Vitamin C and E, which can help reduce inflammation and add hydration to the skin. (An excuse for more guacamole? Yes please!)
FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
Beta-carotenes contained in many fruits and vegetables are naturally anti-inflammatory and can aid in clearing oily skin.
Try replacing sugary breakfast cereal with a homemade smoothie in the morning with your favorite fruits and veggies. You can even infuse a little agave to satisfy your sweet tooth!
Detoxing our bodies with fresh whole foods is a great way to start seeing clearer skin. But I also recommend complimenting a skin-healthy diet with a skin detox. Apply the Clarifying Detox Mask 2-3 times a week just after cleansing to clear pores, promote a more balanced complexion, and brighten and soothe inflamed skin.
If you are prone to blemishes, adding the Salicylic Treatment Complex to your evening routine may help prevent breakouts. (And don’t forget, always follow with a moisturizer!)
REDUCING DARK CIRCLES & PUFFY EYES
The onset of spring and summer means allergy season, and your eyes may be feeling the effects of pollen. It’s also the time of year when days are longer, kids are wrapping up their school year, and we just accidentally stay up later than we mean to. If you’re not getting the recommended 8 hours of sleep, those dark circles may start to creep up on you. But lucky for you, there are so many delectable, nutritional foods to promote vibrant, hydrated eyes.
CUCUMBER
Placing refreshing cucumbers slices on your eyes is a well-loved spa remedy for dark circles and puffiness.
Cucumbers are vitamin rich to help improve skin’s elasticity. They provide nourishment and support rehydration with collagen-boosting silica and skin-strengthening sulphur.
BLUEBERRIES
Blueberries are one of the most popular super-fruits. And it’s no wonder – they are known for supporting eye health. A prime source of the antioxidants, blueberries help protect delicate blood vessels and improve circulation to the eyes.
TOMATOES
Tomatoes carry the powerful antioxidant lycopene. Like blueberries, tomatoes are beneficial for supporting circulation to the eyes and aiding in protecting delicate blood vessels.
In addition to these eye-boosting super foods, I recommend treating dark circles, puffy undereye bags, or dryness with the Retinol Supreme Eye Serum. Its ingredients have been clinically proven to lift and firm the eye area while locking in intense levels of hydration.
(Check out a few other tips I have for Improving the Appearance for Tired Eyes in this blog.)
NATURE’S NECTAR
Speaking of hydration… How can we ensure we are getting the most from these wonderful skin-enhancing foods? WATER.
Water processes nutrients from the food we eat and carries them to the cells, supporting skin health, and our overall health. So drink up! You can’t go wrong with the healing properties of H2O.

Making a few changes to your diet can be a wonderful way to a holistically healthier body. And you just may see some improvement to your skin too!

As we age, skin loses its elasticity and becomes thinner as collagen breaks down. That's also why we typically see the first signs of aging around the eyes…
]]>
Spring has sprung! (I know this weather says otherwise.) Personally, I'm ready to shed my winter coat and slip into the warmth of the changing season.
It’s also the time of year we begin and end our days earlier. For some, the dreaded "spring forward" time change can cause loss of sleep leading to fatigue, mood shifts, and even unhealthy food cravings. And the signs of sleep depravation are probably most visible around your eye area.
The delicate, thin skin around your eyes may appear dark, dull, and baggy with the change of season. (Hello, spring allergies!) If you’re experiencing sleep loss, it may cause your eyes to look fatigued. Maybe you’ve notice your eye contour appears especially dry and crepe-like.
Your eye contour is ten times thinner than the rest of your skin. As we age, skin can lose its elasticity and become thinner as collagen breaks down. That's also why we typically see the first signs of aging around the eyes.
So today I’d like to share a few tips to help revitalize your tired eyes.
NATURAL WONDER
Waking up to puffy, dark circles after a night of tossing and turning is never a great way to start the day.
A simple remedy that helps restore vibrancy and reduce swelling around the eyes a spa-like treatment with cucumber. Rest a slice of cucumber on each eye for 20-30 minutes, and you may start to see those dark circles fade away.
Don’t have cucumbers handy? Chilled tea bags are an easy alternative.
One of my favorite tricks for tired puffy eyes is to take two metal spoons and hold them under very cold water for a few minutes. Then, lay back and place the chilled spoons over the eye contour for 30 seconds. It truly is revitalizing!
Just sit back, take a little “me time”, and let the healing begin!
EYE CONTACT
A great follow-up treatment is an eye contour massage. The circulation will help alleviate puffy eyes and dark circles.
Using your ring fingers, massage an extra-moisturizing eye cream or serum with a gentle massaging motion. Start at the inner tear ducts, massaging down around the orbital bone, then up beneath the brow bone. Gently massage in this circular motion 5-10 times.
With the proper motion and pressure, you may actually feel fluid moving out of the lymphs. This can help reduces the puffiness around your eyes.
Of course, I encourage you to always apply eye treatments and concealers with tender loving care. Use the delicate touch of your ring finger and light pressure. You don't want to pull and tug, which will only cause more fine lines and wrinkles.
With your morning eye massage, I recommend...
Complete Eye Cream. Hydrate your precious peepers to combat environmental and seasonal effects. It's formulated with a superior combination of peptides and hydration-boosting botanicals.
Plus, it can help hydrate in those fine lines and crows feet, which will allow your foundation and concealer to apply more smoothly.
With your evening eyes massage, I recommend...
Retinol Supreme Eye Serum. It’s indeed supreme for nighttime hydration. It goes the extra mile to gently fight signs of tired eyes-fine lines, wrinkles, and puffiness with a rich blend of retinol and vitamin C.
A key ingredient, Saloprine 8, is clinically proven to increase moisture levels by 6,000%! It can breathe life back into tired eyes.
I suggest applying this serum at night, allowing the product to go to work while you sleep. It's rich, slippery texture is perfect for a calming eye contour massage before bedtime.
INNER BEAUTY
What we feed our bodies shows up in our skin. Well balanced nutrition goes a long ways to preserve a youthful appearance.
To help reverse signs of fatigue around the eyes, consider reducing your caffeine and alcohol intake. Drinking the recommended 8 glasses of water (aka - the fountain of youth!) will help rehydrate and rejuvenate dull, weary-looking eyes. So eat your veggies and stay hydrated!

Relief from tired eyes might be as close a your kitchen. Get comfy and treat your eyes with a little TLC. I'd love to know your tips and tricks to give the eyes a refreshed look. Let me know in the comments below.

We show love to our skin by nurturing it with good stuff - but what you remove from your skin is just as important as what you apply to it...
]]>We show love to our skin by nurturing it with next-generation ingredients - but what you remove from your skin is just as important as what you apply to it.
Exfoliating is a necessary method for removing impurities to maintain vibrant, youthful skin. So today, I want to share with you some exfoliating methods and guide you to the right choices for your skin needs.
But first...
WHY EXFOLIATE?
Every day your skin sheds skin naturally. As we age, cellular turnover slows down, leaving skin uneven and lackluster. Exfoliating assists your skin in removing dull, flakey, dead skin. It can also addresses skin concerns like acne, enlarged pores, and dark spots to improve your skin tone.
METHOD #1: MANUAL EXFOLIATION
Manual exfoliation is also known as physical exfoliation. When you think of "exfoliating" - you probably think of things like microbeads, scrubs, or brushes. Even some cleansing cloths have exfoliating abilities!
Manual exfoliants aid in the process of sloughing away dead skin cells. The Dual Enzyme Polish is gentle on your skin but works hard to remove dead, dry skin cells with tiny, gritty microspheres. The gentle yet effective polish helps reveal soft, refreshed skin. The addition of a cocktail of fruit enzymes and AHAs provides deep exfoliation.
METHOD #2: CHEMICAL EXFOLIATION
Chemical exfoliation is a bit different because it works on a cellular level. Chemical exfoliators (or "acid exfoliators") help breakdown the bonds between dead skin cells, allowing them to be sloughed away from the surface of your skin.
These chemical exfoliants falls into 2 categories:
-AHA (alpha-hydroxy acids)
-BHA (beta hydroxy acids)
What's the difference?
AHAs
AHAs are composed of lactic acid, glycolic acid, or mandelic acid - which can help speed up cell turnover and produce more collagen (AKA - help prevent wrinkles).
If you’re starting to see signs of sun-damage or aging, I suggest looking at the Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum, a daily treatment to promote cell turnover and help reverse signs of sun-damaged skin. I love this serum because of its effectiveness in helping to break down the bond between dead skin cells. Overtime, you'll start to see your complexion improve with a bright, radiant glow!
Another powerful exfoliator is retinol. To supercharge your skin’s cell turnover, apply a thin layer of our Retinol Treatment Complex onto skin. This multifaceted formula helps fight the five primary signs of visible aging - including minimizing the appearance of wrinkles, clearing pores, and brightening skin.
BHAs
BHAs work on the skin’s surface, including the pores. Because BHAs are oil-soluble, it’s more ideal for oily skin. Oily skin can cause clogged or enlarged pores, and skin tends to be more acne-prone.
The most common BHA is salicylic acid. Its calming properties quiet sensitive skin prone to oiliness and redness, while leaving skin smooth and even.
The Salicylic Treatment Complex refines and refreshes troubled skin. This treatment addresses clogged pores, calms the skin, and helps prevent future breakouts.
Don't forget, it's not just your face that needs acid love! Your neck, chest, and the backs of your hands can benefit from exfoliation to help prevent age spots and crepe-like skin.
AFTERGLOW
A good daily skincare routine is never complete without moisturizing. Especially after exfoliating, it’s vital to protect and seal your skin’s moisture barrier to maintain the health of the fresh surface.
Freshly exfoliating skin is delicate and vulnerable to dryness if left exposed.
In the Morning
Sealing your skin with a moisturizer, like our Sheer Renewal Cream, adds extra hydration and protection. It’s an oil-free, weightless formula delivering continuous hydration to your skin. You’ll get a lightweight powder finish and a breathable barrier that defends your skin against environmental factors.
In the Evening
Skin may seem extra thirsty for moisture after exfoliating. I recommend quenching that thirst with a little cocktail!
I love combining a small dollop of the Extreme Recovery Cream with a few drops of the Face Oil No 9 in the palm of my hand. Give it a mix, and apply the next-level hydrating cocktail all over the face and neck for an intense moisture boost.
This combination will help protect your skin’s moisture barrier with no greasy residue.

I'm excited to see how proper exfoliation helps your skin! Let me know what kind of results you have in the comments below.

It can be daunting to wander in front of a beautifully lit display of skincare products that go to infinity and beyond. The vast amount of choices can leave you confused and uncertain about what’s best for your skin...
]]>IN THE MORNING...
Step 1 - Cleanser
It’s my experience that one of the ways to maintain healthy, beautiful skin is to begin the day by washing your face. A morning wash removes treatments from the night before and gets your skin balanced and prepped for the serum and makeup to come.
The Balancing Gel Cleanser leaves skin feeling clean, fresh, and comfortable - not dry and tight. It refreshes and bathes the senses with its aromatic blend of sage and seagrass.
Step 2 - Serum
Once your skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepped, it time to treat! I like to recommend applying our super effective Vitamin C Treatment Complex.
It’s formulated to help treat and defend against pollution, stress, and sun damage. This potent anti-oxidant formula helps reduce the appearance of hyper-pigmentation and helps promote collagen production for the look of absolute radiance.
Step 3 - Eye Treatment
The delicate skin around the eyes needs special care to maintain its elasticity and brightness. I love how effective our Complete Eye Cream is for reducing puffiness and the appearance of fine lines. It offers intense hydration and smoothes the area around the eye, without feeling tacky. Eye makeup can be applied without worry.
Step 4 - Moisturizer
The oil-free Sheer Renewal Cream is a wonderful, multi-purpose moisturizer for all skin-types. But don’t let this lightweight, breathable cream fool you. It packs a punch!
Its powerful peptides help fight the signs of aging at any age while offering long term hydration and defense against the harsh environment. And the powder-like finish serves as a fantastic makeup primer.
Step 5 - SPF
I recommend completing your morning skincare routine with a broad spectrum SPF to protect your skin from damaging UVA and UVB rays. Some sunscreens tend to be chalky and heavy, but an ultra-lightweight and non-oily SPF won’t clog your pores or cause skin to be shiny.
Daily Defense SPF 25 performs wonderfully, and goes beyond defending your skin against sun damage. No matter your skin type, you’ll get a soft, matte finish ready for your makeup application.
Don't forget to give your hands some love too. Apply this super protective sunscreen to the backs of your hands everyday so they’re treated and protected (and look like they share a birthday with your face!)
IN THE EVENING...
Step 1 - Cleanser
It’s the end of your day and time to give your skin some love. Taking special care of your skin at night is key to a more youthful appearance and the long term health of your skin. Removing makeup and the day's dirt and pollutants allows skin the opportunity to rejuvenate and repair itself, which is the secret to maintaining beautiful skin.
Throughout my career in developing skincare products, I discovered women were looking for a cleanser that could do it all in ONE STEP. I created the Radiant Cleansing Balm to remove all signs of makeup, deep clean congested pores, and eliminate environmental impurities while leaving skin balanced, soft, and radiant, not dry and tight.
Step 2 - Mask
I recommend using the Clarifying Detox Mask 2-3 times a week just after cleansing. Activated charcoal and French Kaolin clay go straight to work detoxing pores and leaving behind a more balanced complexion, while pure micronized silver helps keep bacteria at bay. A blend of vitamin C and Willowherb extract brighten and soothe inflamed skin.
Step 3 - Serum
Adding a serum to your evening routine can help combat your particular skin concerns.
If you're seeing signs of aging - the Age Renewal Super Serum is infused with more than 20 potent ingredients, including peptides, collagen boosters, amino acids, vitamins, and plant extracts to restore the skin’s complexion to its most youthful radiance and texture.
If your concern is texture or uneven skin tone - the Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum combines exfoliating mandelic, lactic, and salicylic acid for refined skin.
Step 4 - Moisturizer
Moisturizing your skin at night is crucial for rehydrating. Locking in hydration can give skin a more youthful appearance. Extreme Recovery Cream works wonders for improving your stressed out skin while providing high levels of continuous moisture.
Step 5 - Oil
For me, an oil is a must-have in any nightly skincare routine. (Even if you're prone to oily skin, give it a try!)
Our Retinol Supreme Night Oil combines the regenerative benefits of retinol and a potent dose of vitamin C with the highly moisturizing properties of plant-based essential oils.
Step 6 - Eye Treatment
To finish your evening routine, apply the Retinol Supreme Eye Serum every night to reverse the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and puffiness. The supremely rich blend of retinol and vitamin C helps revitalize the delicate area around the eyes.
-
Simple as that! I hope that this has helped removed some confusion surrounding your skincare routine.
When in doubt, stick to the mantra: Cleanse > Treat > Moisturize
You can't go wrong with that! Have other questions for me? Leave them in the comments below.

We all need a detox at some point - whether that be a juice cleanse or a break from social media. But when was the last time your bathroom counter tops saw a thorough cleanse?
]]>We all need a detox at some point - whether that be a juice cleanse or a break from social media. But when was the last time your bathroom counter tops saw a thorough cleanse?
Today, I'd like to talk about a few ways we can remove clutter and harmful products taking up space in our homes. If you're brave, tackle all six steps at once! Or take your time and detox a little bit every week. In either case, you're sure to start seeing better skin and a refreshed space in no time.
1. LET GO...
You check the date on milk before you drink it. (You might even do a sniff test just because!)
But... you apply expired beauty products to your delicate eyes, cheeks, or lips because, well, it’s your pretty stuff! And you invested your cherished time and money into finding the perfect products for your skin. But you could be harming your skin by using products past their expiration date.
It’s hard to let go, I know. Heartbreaking even. But tossing expired products is a MUST.
When it's time to break up with expired skincare products, be extra-careful to check the dates on these type of products:
- Water-based products are bacteria’s happy place. Be extra careful to check the expiration date, as oxygen can change the efficacy of some skincare products.
- Some Vitamin C skincare products. These should be contained in opaque packaging that protects product exposure to sunlight and oxygen. (That’s why our Vitamin C Treatment Complex is in a solid, air-tight metal tube! Plus, the vitamin C in our products is extremely stable, which means it can be exposed to more oxygen than most.) Be sure to check the product color too. If it changes to a brown or orange tint, it’s contaminated. Discontinue use and toss it!
- SPFs. It’s good practice to replace these with the seasons. If you’re using your SPF, you don't want to run the risk of expiration.
2. STICK YOUR NOSE WHERE IT BELONGS...
Consider replacing skincare products that morphed into something else (even if they’re not expired).
Most of our skincare products have a shelf life of 1-2 years unopened. But once opened, try to use them within 6 months to a year. Any beauty product will have a "Period After Opening" or "PAO" symbol on the jar or bottle. You can see that the product below should be used within 12 months (or 12M) of opening.
When your skincare products change in texture, smell, or color - something is wrong. Keep an eye (and nose) out for these signs:
- Changes in color or tint
- Odors signaling products have “gone bad”
- Products that run, separate, or clump
- Application feels streaky or grainy
- When in doubt, toss it out. If it’s not working anymore or irritates your skin, replace it.
3. A HEALTHY OUTLOOK...
Getting rid of harmful ingredients is a no-brainer. Shockingly, there are tons of toxic ingredients hiding in your bathroom cabinets! I suggest reading each label carefully and doing a bit of your own research. I like to think, "Better safe than sorry!" so I avoid the following...
- Parabens: A skincare preservative, potentially linked to mimicking estrogen.
- Sulfates: Used as a lathering agent in shampoo, toothpaste, and body wash. It’s an irritant and harmful to the environment.
- Phthalates: Can cause damage to the liver, kidneys, lungs, and reproductive system.
- Triclosan: Can lead to damage of the reproductive system, weakening of the immune system, and thyroid abnormalities.
- Formaldehyde: Used as a preservative in personal care products. It’s been reported to cause irritation to the eyes, nose, and throat.
- PABA: Used in sunscreen to filter dangerous sun rays. It’s been linked to cancer. Side effects of using products formulated with PABA include skin irritations like eczema and scleroderma.
- Toluene (aka Benzene): Clear liquid used in nail polish, hair dyes, and bleaches. It can cause headaches, dizziness, and skin disorders.
All of our products are formulated without these ingredients. After being in the biz for 20+ years, I know which ingredients stand the test of time and which can be harmful. I like to be very transparent about what is in each formula, and you can find a full list of ingredients on each product page.
4. PLAIN OLD HOARDING...
This one might be a bit more obvious... Do you have beauty products overtaking your bathroom space? Are you the kind of gal that just can't let go?
Maybe it's a product that didn't work for you or something that you've had for so long the label is starting to fade... It’s time to take inventory and say your final goodbyes!
I mentioned last year that my number one 2017 New Year’s Resolution was to get organized! Decluttering my life of unwanted and underused products was extremely helpful.
5. FOUR SEASONS...
Your beloved skincare routine may not be appropriate for year-round use. Transition your skincare from hot and humid, outdoor activity-filled days of summer to the abrasive coolness of fall and winter. And back again.
During warm summer months, I like to switch to my oil-free moisturizer to avoid any extra heavy layers! But in the winter and fall, my skin needs more hydration to avoid feeling dry and tight. (I like to layer this moisturizer and this face oil for that extra glow.)
Also, an oil based cleanser or cleansing balm helps replenish moisture lost in harsh winter weather.
6. AGING OUT...
If you’re still using the same cleansers and moisturizers you used when you were pulling all-night cram sessions, it may be time to detox. Our skin ages with the rest of our body. Your 20 year-old skin has different needs than your 40 year old-skin.
In your teens and 20s, a basic cleanser and moisturizer is usually enough for your lighting-fast regenerating skin. If you're prone to acne, a treatment containing salicylic acid can help combat this major nuisance.
In your 30s and 40s, your skin loses collagen. Look for skincare products formulated with AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) to help repair collagen deficient skin.
50 year-old skin needs highly effective, multi-tasking products. Vitamin A (aka: Reitnol) is essential to help improve slowed cell turnover. (Read more about which retinol product is right for you here.)
-
Do your skin (and yourself) a favor. It's time to give your skincare line-up an overhaul. Practice these six steps, and I bet you’ll see improvement in your skin!

If anti-aging is one of your skincare goals, then you are probably familiar with retinol. But did you know that you can start using retinol as early as your 20s...
]]>If anti-aging is one of your skincare goals, then you are probably familiar with retinol. Retinol has long been at the top of the pyramid when it comes to anti-aging ingredients.
But did you know that you can start using retinol as early as your 20s? Yep! Retinol isn’t just a wrinkle reducer. Vitamin A (the source of all retinoids) can help exfoliate the skin, giving it a brighter, more vibrant appearance. And it can also help with dark or uneven spots and hyperpigmentation.
So how do you know which Colleen Rothschild retinol product is right for you?
Problem: Wrinkled and stressed eyes
Solution: Retinol Supreme Eye Serum
Our eyes typically show the first signs of aging. I formulated the Retinol Supreme Eye Serum to help address not only wrinkles and crowsfeet, but also dehydration. The delicate skin around our eyes often need extra moisture to stay plump and supple.
Saloprine 8, a key ingredient in the Eye Serum, has been clinically proven to increase moisture levels up to 6,000%! And the added benefit of vitamin C can help revitalize and brighten the under eyes.
Additionally, Cityguard™ lifts and firms the eye area, which may help reduce the puffy appearance of under eye bags.
Problem: Dehydrated and aging skin
Solution: Retinol Supreme Night Oil
When researching retinol, you’ll find that the number one recommendation is to always-always-always moisturize after using! Often, stronger retinol formulas may cause dryness and peeling.
After years of layering moisturizers and oils on top of retinol, I thought to myself - why is this a two-step process?! And the Retinol Supreme Night Oil was born!
It’s jam-packed with stabilized retinol for healthy skin renewal, a highly potent vitamin C to counteract the havoc brought upon by pollution, and nine plant-based oils to replenish moisture and help prevent flaking.
-
My final recommendations when using products with retinol - don't forget the sunscreen! I prefer using an SPF of 25 or higher, so this one is perfect for me. And if you do start to experience excessive dryness or flaking skin, try reducing your retinol usage to every other night.

]]>I’m so happy to say that we have made it halfway through the winter! The cold temperatures outside combined with the drying heat indoors is not always kind to our skin.
You may already be seeing the telltale signs of dehydration in your skin – tightness, flakiness, or dry patches. Not the ideal condition for flawless makeup application.
So today I’ve put together some tips to help smooth and even skin for the most beautiful makeup application.
EXFOLIATE
An even foundation application must start with a smooth canvas. Exfoliation helps even the skin's surface by getting rid of any pesky flakey patches.
Try using the Dual Enzyme Polish twice per week. This exfoliating treatment sloughs away dull skin cells in two ways – 1) with tiny microspheres that physically polish the skin to improve texture and 2) with a fruit enzyme and AHA cocktail that help dissolve surface skin cells to reveal skin that looks and feels smoother.
Apply a thin layer of the polish all over the face, avoiding the eye area, and allow it to sit on the skin for 5-10 minutes before gently massaging in circular motions. Then rinse clean. If you’re short on time, just apply the polish in gentle circular motions and wash off immediately.
Either way, I love using the Dual Enzyme Polish because it makes my skin feel so soft and revitalized almost instantly.
HYDRATE
Now that the skin feels refined and smooth, it’s time to add the moisture that your skin is craving.
The Sheer Renewal Cream is infused with peptides and is a dual-purpose treatment to help boost hydration while locking down makeup for a longer, more flawless wear.
Its oil-free formula delivers hydration that is practically weightless. Plus, the smooth powder finish makes it a perfect primer for application of foundation.
And don’t forget the eyes! Especially during the winter months, you may experience some dry patches at the corner of your eyes. A little dab of the Complete Eye Cream around the orbital bone will take care of that! With the eye area hydrated, you’ll be ready for a smoother application of concealer and foundation!
For an even bigger boost in hydration, try adding the new Retinol Supreme Eye Serum into your nighttime routine. Saloprine 8 helps lock in hydration and has been clinically proven to increase moisture levels 6000% after a month of continued use. (Plus, it has the added anti-aging benefits of Retinol and the revitalizing benefits of Vitamin C.)
When your skin is feeling dry and tight, try avoiding makeup products with a matte finish. They can make dry texture on the skin look worse. Personally, I really like the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation or NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. Look for key words like “radiant” or “luminous” in the title. That lets you know that it will have a more dewy finish.
REFRESH
Sometimes even the most glowing foundation can start looking dull around 2:00PM. If you need a pick-me-up halfway through the day, try a hydrating facial mist.
I love the Beauty Water because it is such a versatile product. It won’t cause makeup to run or smear. I can use it to set or rehydrate my makeup, and I also use it to dampen my beauty sponge or cool down after a tough workout.
It’s an invigorating mix of coconut water (refreshing), hyaluronic acid (plumping), and cucumber extract (softening). It’s like a tall drink of water for your skin!
Do you have any makeup or skincare tips to survive dry winter weather? Tell me in the comments below!

A chef is only as good as their ingredients, and the same goes for your skincare products! Like mom always said, "It's what's on the inside that counts!"
So today, I want to give a shout out to a few of my favorite ingredients - the ones that have stood the test of time and have proven to be effective.
Moringa Oil
Moringa oil is dense with nutrients for your skin. On top of being extremely moisturizing, the oil is well-known in the beauty industry for it’s anti-aging benefits.
Antioxidants found in the oil can help slow down the appearance of aging by reducing signs of wrinkles and sagging. Moringa oil is also able to penetrate deep within the skin to provide it with essential moisture and nourishment.
SHOP MORINGA OIL

- Radiant Cleansing Balm
- Intense Hydrating Mask
Retinol
Vitamin A, better known as retinol, is praised as the champion of anti-aging ingredients. Retinol has been a key ingredient in the skincare world for nearly 40+ years, so it has decades of proven research to back claims of its effectiveness.
Retina-A was first prescribed by dermatologists to treat acne. Soon doctors noticed that their patients were returning with not only clear skin but brighter, younger looking skin. It was discovered that vitamin A increases cell turnover, which can clear pores, help with hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone, and reduce fine lines by increasing collagen production.
Some dryness can occur due to the exfoliating nature of retinol. So be sure to use a heavy duty moisturizer (like our Extreme Recovery Cream). Or, skip the extra step - apply your retinol and moisturizer at the same time with the Retinol Supreme Night Oil.
SHOP RETINOL
- Retinol Supreme Eye Serum
- Retinol Supreme Night Oil
Charcoal
Charcoal seems to be the “it” ingredient of 2017 - you can find it everywhere from toothpaste, to masks, to juice cleanses! But the hype is real.
The carbon in activated charcoal acts like an actual magnet, attracting dirt, oil, and toxins.
A charcoal mask can absorb the grime stuck in your pores so it can be pulled to the surface of the skin and washed away more easily. And just think, that gunk can eventually turn into blackheads or blemishes, so using a charcoal mask 2-3 times per week is a great preventative measure for avoiding monthly breakouts.
SHOP CHARCOAL
- Clarifying Detox Mask
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in your body, mostly in your joints, eyes, and skin. Described as a “goo” (yep, that’s the scientific term!), hyaluronic acid helps keep your joints lubricated and surrounds your skin cells with moisture.
Actually, it’s so great at retaining moisture that it can hold 1,000 times its weight in water. And that extra moisture can help plump up fine lines and wrinkles.
In fact, it is the key ingredient in many cosmetic injectable fillers for the lips and face. But you don’t have to inject hyaluronic acid to get the benefits! It is one of the most widely used ingredients in skincare.

Do I really need a toner? What kind of routine should I use for sensitive skin? Colleen answers all of your questions…
]]>
“It seems like everywhere I turn the media is telling me I need to incorporate a toner into my skincare routine (especially if you have acne prone skin, which I do). I notice you don’t have any toners in your skincare line. Are toners as important as the media says they are? Do I really need one? What would recommend for acne prone skin?” -Madeline
Let me start by saying this – if you are using the right cleanser, you don’t necessarily need a toner.
The purpose of a toner is to balance the pH of the skin. And overly foamy or soapy cleansers have a tendency to throw off the pH balance of the skin.
They can also strip the natural oils from your skin, which may be causing your already oily/acne prone skin to overproduce more oil, which leads to more acne, which causes you to use more soapy cleanser – it’s a vicious cycle!
The Radiant Cleansing Balm is formulated to remove makeup, cleanse the face, and balance your skin's pH level. I think after just one use, you will notice that your skin feels cleaner and softer than ever before.
Additionally, to help with acne prone skin, I would suggest using our Clarifying Detox Mask 2 times per week. You can apply it all over the face or just spot treat troublesome pimples. The mix of charcoal and Koalin clay will help deep clean your pores, and the micronized silver will help prevent additional bacteria from getting trapped under the skin. For daily use, I suggest using the Salicylic Treatment Complex in the evening to help keep breakouts away. (P.S. - Both of these are on sale though 10/09/2017!)
Remember, acne is a medical condition, and we always recommend consulting with your doctor when trying a new routine.
“I have been using the Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum after washing my face with the Radiant Cleansing Balm. Can I apply the Face Oil No. 9 afterwards?" -Vivian
Yes! With any skincare routine (morning or evening), try sticking to these three easy steps: Cleanse. Treat. Moisturize.
It sounds like you already have the tools for this simple routine!
Start by cleansing with the Radiant Cleansing Balm. I like to take a scoop in dry hands. Warm the balm between you hands to turn it into an oil-like consistency, then apply directly onto a DRY face. You can massage all over the face, eyelids, and lips to remove any trace of makeup. Then wet the muslin cloth (included) with hot water and wipe away the Balm and all traces of makeup and debris. The cloth will rinse clean!
Next, take a couple of pumps of the Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum onto the tips of your fingers. Apply the serum across your face and neck (and even the back of your hands, if you have some leftover!). Give the serum a minute or two to absorb. I usually brush my teeth while allowing it to soak in.
Finally, take 1-2 pumps of the Face Oil No. 9 onto your finger tips and gently press the oil into your face, neck, and décolleté. It will absorb quickly and deeply nourish the skin.
“What routine would you recommend for dry sensitive skin?” - Pang
The AM Routine includes the Balancing Gel Cleansers, which is a very gentle foaming cleanser. Follow up with the Vitamin C Treatment Complex, which will help protect your sensitive skin from environmental factors like pollution and help repair sun damage. Finish with the Sheer Renewal Cream for oil-free hydration that will last all day.
At night, try the PM Routine. Start with the Radiant Cleansing Balm; as I mentioned above, it won’t strip the oils from your skin and it helps balance the skin. Because you mentioned dehydration, the combination of Extreme Recovery Cream and Face Oil No. 9 is exactly what you need!
Take a little scoop of the Extreme Cream in the palm of your hand, add a few drops of Face Oil, mix it up, then apply all over the face and neck. The Cream provides maximum hydration while also strengthening the hydro-lipid barrier of the skin, which is the skin’s ability to retain that much needed moisture. The Face Oil No. 9 kicks in an added boost of moisture with nine essential oils.

The NEW Retinol Supreme Night Oil launched this week, and I have to say, this product is revolutionary. I am SO excited to finally introduce this amazing 2-in-1 moisturizer that is going to simplify your skincare routine in a snap!
]]>The NEW Retinol Supreme Night Oil launched this week, and I have to say, this product is revolutionary. I am SO excited to finally introduce this amazing 2-in-1 treatment and moisturizer that is going to simplify your skincare routine in a snap!
The latest and greatest addition to the Colleen Rothschild Skincare collection uniquely combines the regenerative benefits of retinol with the moisturizing properties of plant-based oils. There is not another product on the planet like this one! And I know you are going to love it.
What’s in it?
- Stabilized retinol, which encourages skin renewal and is well known in the beauty industry to have amazing anti-aging benefits
- Vitamin C, which protects against environmental toxins and free radicals
- Nine plant-based oils, including Cotton Seed Oil, Frankincense Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, and Argan Oil; all nourish and replenish the skin’s moisture
What will it do for me?
- Help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots
- Stimulate collagen production, to help with skin elasticity
- Increase cell turnover rate, for younger looking skin
- Even skin tone, thanks to vitamin C
- Replenish moisture and nourish thirsty skin
What does retinol do?
Retinol is a form of vitamin A, which has been proven to minimize certain signs of aging like fine lines and dark spots.
As we age, our skin’s reparative process starts to slow down. Retinol helps speed up the skin’s exfoliation cycle – forcing old, dull skin cells on the surface to slough off so that new, healthy skin can return to the surface.
Think of it as polishing silver. Fresh, shiny new skin is under the surface! We just have to buff away the tarnish.
Will the Retinol Supreme Night Oil cause flaking?
No way!
Some forms of retinol (like prescription-level retinoids and Retin-A) cause the skin to peel and flake. Doctors and esthetician always recommend to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize when applying retinol.
So I thought to myself, “Why are we still doing this in multiple steps? Why can’t we treat with retinol and moisturize – AT THE SAME TIME?!” Light bulb moment. Adding essential oils in with the retinol means no dry, flakey skin.
What percentage of retinol is in the Retinol Supreme Night Oil?
The Retinol Supreme Night Oil has the maximum amount of retinol allowed over-the-counter.
However, our propriety delivery system, Level E3, helps the retinol and other active ingredients (like vitamin C) work harder and smarter. The key ingredients are optimized to penetrate the skin and continue working throughout the night.
How does this fit into my nighttime skincare routine?
Treat the Retinol Supreme Night Oil just like your normal nighttime moisturizer!
Start by cleansing. Follow with your favorite masking treatment or eye cream. Then finish with your new Night Oil!
If your skin is particularly dehydrated, try using our Extreme Recovery Cream then layering the new Retinol Supreme Night Oil over the top. (This is a trick I have used with my Face Oil No. 9 for years!)
If you have normal to oily skin, skip the cream. Gently press the new Night Oil into the face and neck.
What if I’m using the Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum?
Same suggestion here! If you are using other exfoliating products like the Mandelic Acid, other AHA serums, or exfoliating scrubs – try rotating their usage with the Retinol Supreme Night Oil.
How does this compare to the Face Oil No. 9?
If you like the Face Oil No. 9, you are going to LOVE the Retinol Supreme Night Oil. Both contain nine transformative essentials oils, but the Retinol Supreme Night Oil includes the added skin enhancing benefits of vitamin C and anti-aging benefits of retinol.
If you have other questions about the new Retinol Supreme Night Oil that weren't answered here, leave me a comment below!

In the world of skincare, sometimes the choices can be overwhelming. Serums, treatments, acids - there are a millions of choices out there! So how do you know which serum is right for you...
]]>In the world of skincare, sometimes the choices can be overwhelming. Serums, treatments, acids - there are a million options out there!
So how do you know which serum is right for you? I'm here to help simplify the process!
First, identify which areas of your skin health you would like to improve. Maybe you're struggling with breakouts or you're seeing the telltale signs of aging. Then, we can find a serum that is targeted for your specific need.
Problem: Visible pores + Beginning signs of aging
Solution: Retinol Treatment Complex
The Retinol Treatment Complex works by tightening pores and minimizing their visibility. The comprehensive blend of micro-encapsulated Retinol and Retinol-like botanicals help reduce the appearance of fine lines over time. With increased cell-turnover, your pores will begin to clear and dull skin will replenish with bright, rejuvenated skin.
Problem: Blemishes or occasion breakouts
Solution: Salicylic Treatment Complex
If you’re struggling with blemishes and want to clear your skin, the Salicylic Treatment Complex is your potent problem solver. It’s a must-have for acne prone skin to keep breakouts at bay and promote clear skin.
My tip, try pairing it with the Clarifying Detox Mask. Use this mask a few times per week all over your face or as a spot treatment as needed. The mask will exhume the dirt and bacteria that is stuck deep within your pores. After removing the mask, follow with this Treatment Complex. The combination of Salicylic Acid and Rosemary Extract will help clear your skin and control excess oil.
Problem: Dull, lackluster skin
Solution: Vitamin C Treatment Complex
The Vitamin C Treatment Complex is my favorite serum to use in the morning. It helps stimulate collagen production, which makes the skin appear more naturally radiant. The Vitamin C improves natural clarity while defending against environmental aggressors you may encounter during the day, like pollution, stress, and sun damage.
After letting it soak in for a few seconds, I top the Vitamin C with my Sheer Renewal Cream in the morning. It's the perfect way to start my day with a clean, glowy feel!
Problem: Age spots + Uneven texture
Solution: Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum
If you are wanting to reduce the appearance of spots caused by sun damage and aging, I would recommend the Mandelic Acid Radiant Serum. The alpha hydroxy acids (AHA’s) in this serum gently exfoliate, dissolve, and breakdown the tiny bonds between dull dead skin cells that sit on the skin’s surface. Over time, you may see a brighter and more radiant complexion.
Because the Mandelic Acid and products that contain retinol increase cellular turnover, I would not recommend using both at the same time. However, if you are seeing great result with retinol (prescription strength or my own Retinol Treatment Complex) and would like to work the Mandelic Acid into your routine, I would suggesting rotating - use the Acid Monday-Wednesday-Friday and the Retinol Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday, for example.
Problem: Dehydration + Fine lines
Solution: Age Renewal Super Serum
If you skin is prone to dehydration, and you don't want to make the problem worse with acids or retinoids, the Age Renewal Super Serum may be your perfect anti-aging serum.
This concentrated formula is infused with a potent combination of peptides, collagen boosters, amino acids, vitamins, and plant extracts. Together, they help improve skin's texture and elasticity while providing much needed hydration and radiance. Coupled with our Extreme Recovery Cream, it's a one-two punch for an effective anti-aging routine.

Multi-masking is a skincare trend that I am absolutely loving! Everyone deserves a little “me time” every once in a while, and there is something about a mask that feels like a special treat.
When it comes to masks, one size doesn’t fit all! Most of us don’t have just one skin concern. So using a combination of multiple masks just makes sense.
Oily T-zone, dry patches, an occasional blemish – we have all dealt with these concerns at some point. Or maybe you’re dealing with all of the above! That’s where multi-masking comes in. Target several of your various concerns all at once with one of these masking combinations.
Clarifying Detox Mask + Dual Enzyme Polish
Probably the most common form of combination skin involves an oily T-zone (that’s your the forehead and nose) and dehydrated or lackluster cheeks.
The charcoal and Kaolin clay in the Clarifying Detox Mask act like a magnet, pulling excess oil and debris from your pores. The Dual Enzyme Polish helps exfoliate dull, lifeless skin.
How to use
Radiant Cleansing Balm + Clarifying Detox Mask
If you are prone to blemishes and breakouts, you may benefit from a more targeted spot treatment.
The Radiant Cleansing Balm is a versatile and luxurious cleanser that can dissolve makeup effortlessly and clear congested pores. Its creamy, buttery texture combined with ingredients like Moringa and Black Seed Oil help give skin a soft, even texture.

]]>What's so special about the Muslin Cleansing Cloth? What kind of sunscreen should I use? Can I use Retin A and the Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum? Colleen covers it all...
]]>
“Hi Colleen love the Mandelic Serum. I have a question for you about the cloth you sell, how do you use them and with what product?” -Anne
I love my Muslin Cleansing Cloths! Both the Radiant Cleansing Balm and the Discovery Collection come with a single, individually packaged Muslin Cloth, or you can replenish with this set of three.
I love to use mine at night with the Radiant Cleansing Balm. I massage a layer of the Balm all over my face. (Apply to dry skin... don't add water!) Then, I take a Muslin Cleansing Cloth and wet it with hot water. I’ll squeeze the cloth just a bit so it’s not dripping wet and place it over my face to allow the steam from the cloth to open my pores and really melt the Cleansing Balm into my skin.
Then I wipe away the Balm with the wet cloth. It’s soft and gentle, but the cloth’s unique weave acts as a gentle exfoliator as well. It’s really helpful in cleaning away that hard to remove mascara that is often left under your eyes or purifying the nooks and crannies around the hairline.
I’ve also seen people use the cloth in the morning while using with the Balancing Gel Cleanser or to remove a mask like the Clarifying Detox Mask.
I just love these little cloths, and I always like to have a few handy. They always rinse clean, and you can toss them in your wash with everything else – no special cycle needed!
“I was wondering what you use for sunscreen. Many thanks!” -Sandra
Especially in the summertime when I am enjoying more time outside, I am always very careful to always apply sunscreen.
I enjoy using the Daily Defense SPF 25. It’s a lightweight fluid that won’t leave your skin with that unsightly white tint we have come to expect from a good sunscreen! It contains moisturizing properties and a brightening complex that will make your complexion radiate from within.
“I have recently purchased your Discovery Collection and Mandelic Radiance Serum, and I am loving all of the products. I also use Retin A. My question is - should my Retin A be applied after cleansing my face, and what products in your line should follow in the PM routine? Thank you Colleen. I just love your product line.” –Linda
So glad that you are enjoying the collection so far. The Discovery Collection has everything you would need for a great AM and PM skincare routine. Adding your Retin A and Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum to the lineup is just like icing on the cake!
Both products have ingredients that are meant to gently exfoliate your top layer of dead skin cells and reveal bright, fresh, new skin underneath – so you don’t want to over-do it and irritate the skin.
It may also be a good idea to consult with your physician that prescribes your Retin A! They can give you a good idea of what to expect when mixing and matching a skincare routine.

Wherever you are, there are probably some seasonal changes that need to be made to your skincare routine to keep up with the heat and increased sun exposure...
]]>If you can’t tell by the rising temperature outside, summer is officially in full swing. We’re sweating it out in our Dallas headquarters, but wherever you are, there are probably some seasonal changes that need to be made to your skincare routine to keep up with the heat and increased sun exposure.
Trade your Sheer Renewal Cream for the Daily Defense SPF25
You should wear sunscreen every day of the year, but the nice warm weather probably means that you’re spending more time outside during the summer. So it’s especially important to protect your skin from the sun. In the morning, skip your normal daily dose of Sheer Renewal Cream (or whatever moisturizer you use in the mornings) and reach for the Daily Defense SPF25.
It’s a lightweight fluid that offers both UVA and UVB protection with a soft, matte finish. No embarrassing, pale white film here! It also contains a unique brightening complex that will enhance your complexion and promote radiance from within. Moisture, radiance, and SPF? We might consider making this trade year-round!
Trade your Extreme Recovery Cream for the Sheer Renewal Cream
You didn’t think I could just toss my beloved Sheer Renewal aside all summer, did you? During the summer with added sweat, heat, and salt water, I need a lightweight moisturizer in the evening.
Most months, I live for my Extreme Recovery Cream at night, but this season, I’m switching gears and reaching for my Sheer Renewal Cream. It’s got just enough hydration to keep me moisturized throughout the evening without adding a heavy layer. Think light, breathable, and oil-free for a perfect night’s sleep.
Trade your Age Renewal Super Serum for the Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum
As we age, we become more aware of how the sun is affecting our skin. If only I could tell my 20 year old self to put on a hat and put away the tanning oil! The Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum is just what we need to help turn back the clock on visible signs of sun damage.
Mandelic acid helps promote cellular turnover, which reveals brighter, more radiant skin. The Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum is great at reducing the appearance of sunspots and uneven skin tone due to over exposure to the sun. It also improves the skin’s texture and tone, which always seems to be an issue in the summer.
Trade your full-size products for a Discovery Collection
I shouldn’t have to do much convincing on this one! The Discovery Collection is a kit with 7 travel/TSA-friendly versions of your favorite Colleen Rothschild products! It’s the perfect pre-packed bag of skincare essentials for any summer vaca.
If you have summer travel plans or an upcoming weekend getaway, grab the Discovery Collection, and you’ll have everything you need for a top-notch skincare routine on the go!

Colleen
Let’s have a talk about travel, shall we? I have been all over the map this summer – from New York to Dallas to Boston, just to name a few. If you’ve been doing your own summer travels, you know how much of a PAIN it is to pack, re-pack, and unpack the same bag.
When I launched Colleen Rothschild Beauty, I knew that I wanted to create a pre-packed travel kit that I could toss in my carry-on bag with all of my skincare essentials.
Apparently I am not the only one that needed this kind of travel bag!! You guys have loved the Discovery Collection from day one!
All seven skincare products included in the Discovery Collection are TSA and travel-friendly size. (TSA rules require that all liquids, gels, and aerosols be less than 3.4 ounces or 100 milliliters. Do I sound like a flight attendant?)
Below, I’ve mapped out my daily skincare routine while traveling. And everything in BOLD is included in the Discovery Collection...
MORNING
- I always cleanse with the Radiant Cleansing Balm to balance the skin.
- Then I apply the oil-free Sheer Renewal Cream as a moisturizer and primer before makeup.
- If I’m hitting the beach or spending the day outside, I’ll also include my Daily Defense SPF25. (It’s not included in the Discovery Collection, but still travel size and definitely a great addition to the kit.)
EVENING
- I remove my sunscreen and makeup with the Radiant Cleansing Balm. At night, I like to us the Muslin Cloth (also included) to help gently exfoliate and really remove every bit of grime left on my face.
- Then, depending on my mood, I may use either the Dual Enzyme Polish or the Clarifying Detox Mask. I use the Polish when my skin is feeling dull, and I use the Mask when I feel like I need a deep cleaning detox. (Inevitably, I will need BOTH while on vacation!)
- Finally, I finish off with a cocktail combination of the Extreme Recovery Cream and Face Oil No. 9. I put a dollop of each in the palm of my hand, swirl to combine, and apply all over my face, neck, and chest. Something about traveling seems to dehydrate my skin, so this moisture duo packs a punch.
Everything comes packaged in a cute little Colleen Rothschild travel bag. However, if you’re packing in a carry-on, TSA will require that all liquid and gel products be placed in a quart-sized clear Ziploc bag. So, I keep all my products in a little baggie and store that inside my CR travel bag. (This also keeps the travel bag nice and clean, just incase there are any in-flight explosions. We have all learned that one the hard way!)
When I return home from a trip, there is no unpacking needed. I just store my travel Discovery Collection in my suitcase until it’s time for another trip.
Even if you're not a travel junkie, it's still a great way to get a taste of the entire Colleen Rothschild Skincare collection!
I’d love to hear what YOU pack in your skincare travel bag! Leave me a comment below!

]]>Peanut butter and jelly. Barbie and Ken. Thelma and Louise. One just isn’t the same without the other!
Sometimes it takes a team of two to get the job done. Certain skincare ingredients can pair well and increase the efficiency of one another. So if you want to start seeing real results, it’s time to employ a team of products that will work together!
Goal: Clear blemish-prone skin
Products: Clarifying Detox Mask + Salicylic Treatment Complex
The trick to achieving clear skin is consistency. Using the Clarifying Detox Mask a few times per week will exhume the dirt and bacteria that is stuck deep within your pores. Salicylic acid is a proven treatment for breakouts. The Willow Bark and Niacinamide found in the Salicylic Treatment Complex also help target discoloration and uneven texture left behind by healing blemishes.
“I love this mask. I feel like it does a wonderful job cleaning out my pores!” –Ashley
Goal: Reduce the appearance of fine lines
Products: Complete Eye Cream + Age Renewal Super Serum
It’s no secret that the smile lines around our eyes can be a clear indicator of our age. Keeping the eyes hydrated with the Complete Eye Cream helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and also strengthens elasticity around the eyes. The Age Renewal Super Serum is infused with peptides, collagen boosters, amino acids, and vitamins that all fight the visible signs of aging.
“I'm on my third jar of this eye cream. I love it! It is very moisturizing without being greasy. It absorbs quickly. My concealer goes on smooth. I think my crow’s feet and my dark circles are less noticeable too.” –Tracey
Goal: Brighter, more even skin tone
Products: Vitamin C Treatment Complex + Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum
For a great AM/PM one-two punch, try using the Vitamin C Treatment Complex in the morning and the Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum in the evening. The combo can help reduce discoloration and improve skin clarity. The Vitamin C stimulates collagen production, which makes the skin appear more radiant, while the Mandelic Acid increases cellular turnover, which helps refine the skin’s texture and tone.
“I have noticed brighter, clearer skin. First product that has visibly reduced sunspots. Extremely impressive serum.” –Gina
Goal: Reduce the appearance of pores
Products: Salicylic Treatment Complex + Retinol Treatment Complex
As a skincare connoisseur, you may think Salicylic is just for blemishes and Retinol is just for wrinkles. But the combination of the two is a problem solver for prominent pores. The Salicylic Treatment Complex will help unclog pores and clear skin while the Retinol Treatment Complex gets to work tightening pores and minimizing their visibility.
“I asked Colleen what I could use from her line to help me reduce my huge pores, she recommended the [Salicylic Treatment Complex]. I love it, works great!” –Mary
Goal: Rejuvenate dehydrated skin
Products: Extreme Recovery Cream + Face Oil No. 9
Probably my favorite product combination is the Extreme Recovery Cream and Face Oil No. 9. At night after cleansing and applying my serums, I scoop a dollop of the Cream into my palm then add one pump of the Face Oil and rub to combine the two before gently massaging the cocktail onto my face, neck, and chest. The skin-plumping Hyaluronic acid in the Extreme Recovery Cream and the combination of nine precious oils and vitamins in the Face Oil No. 9 leaves the skin feeling luminous.
“I have always had dry skin, but this winter it seemed nothing quenched its thirst until I found the Colleen Rothschild line of products…especially the Face Oil No. 9 and this Extreme Recovery Cream. I am so in love with many of the products and have seen such a change my skin I could not be happier!” –Leslie

"I'm 52 and wanting to try your skincare, but I don't know where to begin. There are so many products to choose from... What you would suggest to begin with?” -Sigrid
You are not alone, Sigrid! One of the most frequent questions I get is, “What do I buy first?” My recommendation - start with a simple routine.
The Discovery Collection will give you an opportunity to experience a few items from the line, at a value price. In the collection, we have SIX deluxe samples and a Muslin Cleansing Cloth all tucked inside a great CR Travel Bag. The kit includes…
- Radiant Cleansing Balm, a cult favorite for nightly cleansing
- Dual Enzyme Polish, use twice a week to exfoliate dull skin
- Clarifying Detox Mask, use twice per week to deep clean pores
- Sheer Renewal Cream, a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer for morning use
- Extreme Recovery Cream, a rich night cream that delivers intense hydration
- Face Oil No. 9, a luxurious oil that deeply nourishes
And the best part? It’s a $150 value - for only $95!!
“Hello! I am loving all of your products. I just purchased your Vitamin C Treatment Complex along with your Age Renewal Super Serum. In the mornings, I am wondering what to put on first – Vitamin C or the serum?
I also use your Face Oil No.9. Am I correct when I see that some people combined the Face Oil in the Serum and put it on at night? Is that okay? Thank you!” –Jenny
You’ve started with two really great products, and I think you are going to love their results. And to answer your question, I prefer to use the Vitamin C Treatment Complex in the morning and the Age Renewal Super Serum in the evening. Here’s my current personal routine:
AM
- Cleanse and prep skin with the Balancing Gel Cleanser
- Apply Vitamin C Treatment Complex, let absorb
- Moisturize skin with Sheer Renewal Cream
PM
- Take the day off with the Radiant Cleansing Balm
- Revitalize with the Age Renewal Super Serum
- Hydrate with a cocktail combination of the Extreme Recovery Cream and Face Oil No.9
You could absolutely combine the Age Serum with the Face Oil or any other moisturizer. Apply one pump of each in the palm of your hand, give it a little mix, and massage directly onto the skin!
“I live in Colorado Springs which, in addition to an elevation of almost 7000 feet, is very dry. My skin has aged dramatically since moving here. I have tried several products after reading about them in a blog I follow, “Grace and Beauty” by Cindi Spivey.
I want to look my best for my daughter’s wedding in July. Could you suggest a “beauty boot camp” routine that would potentially ease the effects of aging, dryness, and sun exposure?” -Denise
I love that you used the term “beauty boot camp”! Your skincare routine is just like a fitness routine – dramatic results can’t be seen overnight. But I think you have plenty of time to look your absolute best before your daughter’s wedding. (And congrats to her!)
Some of the first signs of dehydration (and aging for that matter) can usually be seen around our eyes. I would recommend trying the Complete Eye Cream to hydrate, prevent loss of elasticity, and ward off fine lines. Use it morning and night.
Also, try adding an AHA (alpha-hydroxy acid) to your routine, like the Mandelic Acid Radiance Serum. Over time, this serum promotes cellular turnover and exfoliation – which addresses problems like dark spots and uneven texture/tone. With continual use, it can even reduce the appearance of wrinkles, leaving you with that “mother of the bride” glow every day of the week!
Finally, because you mentioned the dry climate, I would recommend a moisturizing cocktail every night for dehydrated skin. I think a small dollop of the Extreme Recovery Cream and a pump of the Face Oil No. 9 would be a great solution to provide your skin with continuous hydration. (If you have to travel for the wedding, pick up a Discovery Collection too! It includes TSA approved travel sizes of my favorite products – including the Extreme Recovery Cream and Face Oil.)
