5 Tips to Boost Your Self-Confidence

Do you struggle with self-image issues? If so, you aren't alone. Millions of men and women view their bodies in a negative light. The good news is that you can boost your self-confidence by following some simple steps.

#1) Stay Active

Exercise (or lack there of) plays a direct role in the way in which you view yourself. People with physically active lifestyles generally have better self-confidence than people with sedentary lifestyles. This is due to the fact that exercising releases positive mood-altering chemicals within the body known as endorphins – a phenomenon that's often associated with a “runner's high.” You don't have to necessarily hit the gym for a strenuous weight training workout each and every day, but you should get into the habit of performing light-to-moderate exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes daily.

#2) Eat Right

As the saying goes, you are what you eat, holds true in regards to self-confidence. There's nothing wrong with an occasional fast food meal from your local burger joint, but basing your entire diet around processed foods such as this will take its toll on both your body and mind. If you're looking to improve your health and self-confidence, focus your diet on lean meats (e.g. fish, turkey and chicken), fresh fruits and vegetables, and whole grains.

#3) Look Your Best

I know this probably sounds like common sense, but taking the time to groom yourself can make a world of difference in your self-confidence. Rolling out of bed and tossing on yesterday's clothes isn't the best way to present yourself. Whether you're going to work, the gym, grocery shopping, or just hanging out with friends, take the time to properly groom yourself. Not only will you look better, but you'll also feel better – and that makes it all worth it.

#4) Pamper Yourself

When was the last time you treated yourself to a day at the spa? Getting a manicure, pedicure and facial will leave you feeling rejuvenated and pampered, which subsequently will boost your self-confidence. Regardless of how busy your day-to-day life is, you need to make time to pamper yourself. Because after all, everyone deserves a little pampering once in a while.

#5) Positive Thinking

Sometimes all it takes to improve your self-confidence is new thought process. Instead of focusing on the negative aspects of your body, focus on the positives. Perhaps you have a smooth, even complexion that other women would die for, or maybe you have healthy, beautiful hair.
