Skincare Ingredients You Should Know
A chef is only as good as their ingredients, and the same goes for your skincare products! Like mom always said, "It's what's on the inside that counts!"
So today, I want to give a shout out to a few of my favorite ingredients - the ones that have stood the test of time and have proven to be effective.
Moringa Oil
Moringa oil is dense with nutrients for your skin. On top of being extremely moisturizing, the oil is well-known in the beauty industry for it’s anti-aging benefits.
Antioxidants found in the oil can help slow down the appearance of aging by reducing signs of wrinkles and sagging. Moringa oil is also able to penetrate deep within the skin to provide it with essential moisture and nourishment.

Retinol
Vitamin A, better known as retinol, is praised as the champion of anti-aging ingredients. Retinol has been a key ingredient in the skincare world for nearly 40+ years, so it has decades of proven research to back claims of its effectiveness.
Retina-A was first prescribed by dermatologists to treat acne. Soon doctors noticed that their patients were returning with not only clear skin but brighter, younger looking skin. It was discovered that vitamin A increases cell turnover, which can clear pores, help with hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone, and reduce fine lines by increasing collagen production.
Some dryness can occur due to the exfoliating nature of retinol. So be sure to use a heavy duty moisturizer (like our Extreme Recovery Cream). Or, skip the extra step - apply your retinol and moisturizer at the same time with the Retinol Supreme Night Oil.

Charcoal
Charcoal seems to be the “it” ingredient of 2017 - you can find it everywhere from toothpaste, to masks, to juice cleanses! But the hype is real.
The carbon in activated charcoal acts like an actual magnet, attracting dirt, oil, and toxins.
A charcoal mask can absorb the grime stuck in your pores so it can be pulled to the surface of the skin and washed away more easily. And just think, that gunk can eventually turn into blackheads or blemishes, so using a charcoal mask 2-3 times per week is a great preventative measure for avoiding monthly breakouts.

Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in your body, mostly in your joints, eyes, and skin. Described as a “goo” (yep, that’s the scientific term!), hyaluronic acid helps keep your joints lubricated and surrounds your skin cells with moisture.
Actually, it’s so great at retaining moisture that it can hold 1,000 times its weight in water. And that extra moisture can help plump up fine lines and wrinkles.
In fact, it is the key ingredient in many cosmetic injectable fillers for the lips and face. But you don’t have to inject hyaluronic acid to get the benefits! It is one of the most widely used ingredients in skincare.
